Three-year-old A.M. Kavija Kiranidu Aththanayake, Pannipitiya suffering from Thalassaemia has been recommended by Director Bone Marrow Transplant and Consultant Haematologist –Asiri Central Hospital Prof. Lallindra Gooneratne to undergo a bone marrow transplant for transfusion dependent Thalassaemia at Asiri Central Hospital.
The cost of the procedure has been estimated to be in the region of Rs. 8,000,000 if there are no complications, according to Prof. Goonaratne.
