SLAF Group Captain G.P.N.C Nilantha Piyasena who left Batticaloa station after a two-year service was awarded a farewel by the Batticaloa Municipal Council recently.
During his stay at the station he re-organised the Mantivu Leprosy Hospital and refurbished the school in Mantivu Island.
Captain Piyasena along with schoolchildren from the area also carried out a tree-planting program and embellished the Gandhi Park in the heart of the Batticaloa town and handed it back to the Municipal Council for maintenance.
Batticaloa Mayor, Thiagaraja Saravanapavan and Deputy Mayor, Kanthasamy Sathiyaseelan garlanded Piyasena with a golden shawl and presented him with a memento. Municipal Councilors and Accountant, G.H. Sivaraja look on.
