Only fully vaccinated people can visit public places from April 30

6 February, 2022

Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella on Friday issued a Gazette Extraordinary prohibiting people who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 from entering public places.

Proof of vaccination will be mandatory to visit public places and the new regulations will come into force from April 30.

The gazette notification has defined a public place as “Any place or a mode of transport used in public to which the public have access, whether as of right or otherwise, whether on payment or not, whether on invitation or not.”

A person who has obtained the required doses of the vaccination as specified by the Director-General of Health Services, in this case the first, second and the booster dose of any of the Covid-19 vaccines available in Sri Lanka, will be considered as a fully vaccinated person.

The vaccine mandate is not applicable to people who are not fully vaccinated against Covid-19 due to exceptional circumstances and those who are not in the age groups eligible to receive the vaccines.
