President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Mrs. Ioma Rajapaksa were greeted with the sounds of trumpets at the venue. The national anthem was sung
by schoolchildren after the President hoisted the national flag amidst the beating of magul bera and blowing of the ‘conch shell’. The Chief of Defence Staff, Navy and Air Force Commanders and the Inspector General of Police escorted the President to the special pavilion.
