Journalist Prince Gunasekara has been elected the Deputy Chairman of the Kotikawatta Mulleriyawa Pradeshiya Sabha at a vote held at the Pradeshiya Sabha office on December 15.
The SLPP had nominated Prince Gunasekara for the Deputy Chairman post but a former Deputy Chairman of the same party (SLPP) Sumudu Rukshan also entered the fray compelling the PS to go for a vote.
Later, Gunasekara who secured majority votes was elected the Deputy Chairman.
He is an old boy of Gothatuwa Maha Vidhyalaya and Thurstan College, Colombo. Gunasekara who followed his mass communication from the University of Colombo has also worked as a freelance journalist of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
At present he acts as the Sports Editor of the Dinamina newspaper. Gunasekara has visited nearly 50 countries to cover international sport events. In addition, he also acts as a Pradeshiya Sabha member for nearly 27 years.
