Drivers and riders in Sri Lanka are to get the opportunity of returning to the track after a lapse of nearly two years when the SLT Mobitel Speed races gets underway on December 5 at the Katukurunda Circuit.
For the first time this year’s event will be organized by the governing body for motor sport Sri Lanka Automobile Sport (SLAS) headed by its president Ashhar Hameem.
The past two years was completely a disappointing period for racing drivers, riders and fans with only the, Mahagastota Hill Climb, Radella Hill Climb, Eliyakande Hill Climb and the Mirigama Circuit meets taking place.
SLAS hopes to conduct a total of 22 events.
The Organisers have also decided not to conduct events with less than ten cars and 12 motor cycles for an event. If the required number of competitors do not enter an event the organisers have the right to take a final decision according to the situation.
Entry forms could be down loaded by visiting the web site www.slas.lk and sent to reach SLAS Office at No. 33. Torrington Place. Colombo7.
