Rushan Jaleel, a former Trinity College captain, who played a key role as a top batsman and off spin bowler and later was the junior cricket coach of the school, will be leaving for the United Kingdom this month to take up a course in sports coaching at the Leeds Beckett University in Yorkshire.

This course is conducted by top class experts who produce renowned research on the topical issue of sports coaching.

Jaleel was overall head coach for strategic planning, development and implementation of cricket at Trinity College.

He led the Trinitians in the year 2008/9 and helped them win the 93rd big match and one-dayer and they won the best team award in the central province. Jaleel also captured 125 wickets.

The turning point in Jaleel’s career was when he changed his bowling style from fast bowler to spin on the advice of his junior coach Julian Arnolda and Sampath Perera who polished his cricket and within a very short period transformed him into a top shelf player.

He won Colours and the Lion for cricket and played for Sri Lanka under 19, Ragama CC, Chilaw Marians and Wayamba.

He was a great asset to Trinity College where he successfully imbibed the basics into budding players especially at junior level.
