Now LPL shifted to December

26 September, 2021

Sri Lanka Cricket said the Lanka Premier League (LPL) is now slated to be held from December 3 and the final on December 23 as they opened the process of registering overseas players on Friday.

The inaugural edition held last year was won by the Jaffna Stallions led by former Sri Lanka all-rounder Thisara Perera who beat the Galle Gladiators in the final and two of the teams that took part in the first championship, Colombo Kings and Dambulla Vikings will not be part of the tournament.

Sri Lanka Cricket is also struggling to come to grips with the start of the new domestic inter club season for 2021-22 which was postponed from September to October due to the coronavirus restrictions. As many as 26 teams are lined-up to contest the Premier league in two groups, the winners of which will meet in the four-day final.

Colombo Cricket Club (CCC) are the reigning League champions while the Nondescripts Cricket Club (NCC) won the limited-overs championship in Sri Lanka’s domestic inter club set-up.
