MCA cricket picks up and halted due to SLC T20

22 August, 2021

The 28th Singer- MCA Premier League and the T-20 tournament 2021 was once again postponed this time due to the SLC Invitation T20 League, which is now in progress at the Pallekele Stadium.

The League Stage got off to a start in April 2021 with the participation of four teams, Hayleys Group, John Keells Group, HNB and Citizens Development Business Finance (CDB).

The tournament went on smoothly until April 27 completing eight matches but was halted due to the coronavirus.

Subsequently, the MCA Tournament Committee decided to re-start the tournament where it stopped, on August 10 but their efforts were in vain due to it clashing with the SLC T20.

Unbeaten, Hayleys Group head the table with four wins out of four games followed by HNB with two wins and two defeats.

Highlights :

Best total John Keells 314 for 8 in 50 overs Vs. CDB; Best batting Kusal Mendis from John Keells 110 versus CDB and Muditha Lakshan from CDB 104 versus John Keells; Best bowling Lahiru Madusanka from CDB 5 for 31 versus HNB and Tharindu Ratnayake from CDB 5 for 50 versus Hayleys. (YK)
