How I spent my Covid -19 school vacation

15 August, 2021

I initially heard about the Covid – 19 pandemic in March 2020.It started in Wuhan, China and spread from there. When it started to spread within our country my father decided to come to our home town, Yatiyantota. During this sudden holiday I played badminton with my sister. At night, I played Monopoly with my family.

I started gardening with my parents and planted many seeds. Among them were brinjal, pumpkin, chillie, green gram. ladies fingers and tomato seeds. In the morning I watered my vegetable garden and did onlone school lessons through Microsoft teams. In the evening I did my homework with the help of my parents and sister. During this period I started to watch news and learnt much new information about the pandemic. As the country was in lockdown we ordered food online.

My parents always advised my sister and I to follow health guidelines. One of the best things I did during this pandemic was to start reading the Holy Bible. After that we recited the Holy Rosary as a family.

I asked my parents to give me a pack of masks and a sanitiser to protect me from this pandemic. Now, my wish is that this pandemic would end and school would start as early as possible.
