The work from home option for public servants was cancelled from Friday (July 30) and all public servants should report to work from Monday, August 2, the President’s media stated on Friday.
President’s Secretary Dr. P.B. Jayasundera has issued instructions to Public Service, Provincial Councils and Local Government Ministry Secretary J.J. Ratnasiri in this regard. Hence, the earlier circulars permitting public servants to work from home and to report to work on a special roster will be cancelled.
The Ministry Secretary issued the circular recalling the public sector workers on Saturday. The decision strives to restore normalcy in the public service which had been greatly limited for over a year due to the challenges posed by the Covid-19 world pandemic, the media release added.
It has been noted that a large percentage of the population above 30 years had been vaccinated against the deadly virus as of now. This includes public servants as well. Public servants have been asked to return to work adhering to Covid-19 guidelines issued by the Health Ministry.
State Minister for Transport Dilum Amunugama said inter-province bus and train services will resume from today (August 1) to facilitate workers. The Army Commander said that with the lifting of the isolation of the Vadamarachchi North Grama Niladhari division in Jaffna yesterday, there were no areas under isolation in the country at present.
