Ziam Hussain elected to lead BBASL

The Billiards and Snooker Association of Sri Lanka conducted its annual general meeting via a virtual platform on June 28 and elected office bearers for the ensuing year where Ziam Hussain was elected as the president uncontested.

The Secretary’ position was not filled at the meeting.

At the election only two posts that of Assistant Secretary and Tournament Secretary had to be decided on a vote. The Assistant Secretary’s post was contested by Prakash Sri Rajan and Muhammed Azzam and the former received 21 votes as against Azzam’s single vote.

Meanwhile Niranjan Abeysena who faced Kumara Lanerolle for the post of Tournament Secretary won by 21 votes with Lanerolle gaining only one vote.

The Association hopes to fill the vacancy for the Secretary’s position in the very near future according to an official. (BP)
