Caring for the young and old

27 June, 2021

Dear Readers,

Today, let us look at the young, infants, toddlers and children and the elderly. Actually, you dear readers , are children, so I am writing about you too.

Both these groups need love and care and in this sense you also need to think of your peer group. And of course the elderly comprising your grandparents, aging relatives and friends and others in your society. They represent the two ends of life.

The young look for much love and attention. So, give it to them taking care not to spoil them. What is valuable is the giving of yourself. Little ones love if older children will do activities with them and if they are allowed to share in the elder ones’ activities. A good way to show you care is to help your siblings and friends when they need it.

The elderly too need care, love and comfort. Many people tend to exclude the elderly from their activities. This can make the elderly sad and feel unwanted. Of course, they can’t do everything that you may be able to do but they will be able to do some things. They would need you when they are sick.

Be there for them. Give them special attention and make them feel wanted at family gatherings and happy times like Christmas.

So, be it family, relatives, friends or community always be attentive to the young and old. And please remember both the young and old in homes. Spare some time to visit and maybe take them a treat sometimes.

There are many ways in which you can show love and care to the young and old.. So, put on your thinking caps!

Till we meet again,

Good luck

Aunty Nira
