The 210th in the series of Ama Daham Sisilasa Dhamma Sermons held every Full Moon Poya Day according to a concept of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa was held at Temple Trees on Wednesday (May 26).
The Dhamma sermon was delivered by the Mahanayake of the Amarapura Siri Sumana Vihara Chapter and the Founder of the Pannipitiya Sri Devram Viharaya Most Ven. Dr. Kolonnawe Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera.
Stressing the importance of Vesak Poya Day and the impermanence of life, Most Ven. Sumangala Mahanayake Thera requested all Buddhists around the world to create a Buddha Chamber in the mind of the Supreme Buddha who attained Parinibbana 2565 years ago.
The Most Ven. Mahanayake Thera reminded the Prime Minister “You went there when hundreds of people in Kebithigollewa were hacked to death and people hugged their bodies and cried. How did you feel then? Your heart felt how to stop this war.”
He called for the support of all to control the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic in the same manner in which terrorism was eradicated 12 years ago, and added that the entire country should unite in order to achieve this purpose.
Pointing out that hatred, anger and jealousy must be eradicated, Ven. Sri Sumangala Mahanayake Thera said that the pandemic had reached a point where people can’t even attend the funerals of their loved ones.
Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, Mrs. Shiranthi Rajapaksa, State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal and several others participated in the religious observances.
