Mythil’s secret

23 May, 2021

Mythil’s secret is one of the most interesting books I have ever read. I like how the scenes were described. This book was the first time I read about yakkas. I think people made up yakkas to explain bad happenings or when they see animals they have not seen before.

But Asiri is real in the story and the story is from the authors perspective.

In the story yakkas are weak to metal. I wonder why yakka’s are weak to metal? I enjoyed the book because it has fantasy (the fantasy was Mythil fighting powerful yakkas) and is about how a person and a yakka (Asiri) becoming friends in secret.

I like that because a yakka is a kind of a different person and when humans and they connect it’s nice and helps us livein peace.

My favourite part of the book is when Mythil meets Asiri and how he is not sure of what to do. I also like the part where the bahiravaya lord talks to the fruits because that is hilarious as he just asks questions such as “hmm what is my name”? My favourite character is Asiri because he always tricks Mythil but is a good companion to him and friend (Mythil liked that because he did not have siblings to play with). I think Asiri’s perspective of the story was - he sees a boy in the jungle, he is bored, so he scares him, then the boy threatens him with a yakka toxic knife in which blue lines appear when a yakka is near. Then Asiri gets scolded by the boy.

Later, the boy saves his life and they live together as friends but only the boy could see him.

I wish I had a yakka friend like Asiri. I liked the book very much and I want to read the sequel-Asiri’s Quest by Prashani Rambukwella.
