The Colombo-Ratnapura road near Avissawella was damaged due to heavy rains triggered by the cyclonic storm ‘Tauktae’. An earthslip was also reported in the area. Four of the 20 spill gates of the Thabbowa Tank in the Puttlam district were opened yesterday after heavy rains experienced for the past several days, brought the tank close to spill level.
