Sri Lankan Safari community

21 March, 2021

I can see:
Baby, brunet, black, bears splashing playfully
in the crystal, clear water,
Dark, lush green trees making a
carpet across the golden sand,
Wild elephants roaming the dusty,
Dry, dirt path
Lousy monkeys sitting in
Towering mango tree branches

I can hear:
Snapping branches on the dirt
Track, stony roads going on forever,
Birds of all colours chirping
A sweet melody in the distance.
Monkeys howling in the trees as
The elephants splash in the cooling water,
Wailing wind tossing trees about.
As the sun sets a wild warthog family
trudges out of the mud with a bellow.

I can smell:
Animal droppings fill the air:
Damp, juicy plants dotted along
the pathways blooming,
Musky scented buffaloes dipping
In a shallow lagoon.
Lychee fragrance filling the
Black three wheeler with a sweet scent
Finishing the day with crunchy hoppers.
