The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center issued a warning of severe lightning to several provinces for the period until 10:30 p.m. today.
The warning stated that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western, North-western, Uva and Southern provinces and in Mannar and Ampara districts.
