Methvan Wijemanne and Tharuk Marasinghe set up a final showdown in the Boys’ Under-14 Singles when they recorded convincing victories in their respective semi-finals of the SSC Open Tennis Tournament which continued at the SSC Courts at Maitland Place yesterday.
Wijemanne, the schoolboy from Royal College cruised to a rousing 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sandas Usgodaarachchi while his schoolmate Marasinghe registered a smashing 6-3, 6-2 win over Lisal Goonetillke.

Men’s Doubles semi-finals:
Sanka Athukorala and Yasith de Silva beat Nishendran Sivendran and Michael Siyaguna 6-1, 6-1. Dineshkanthan Thangarajah and Gayanga Weerasekera beat Chehan Fernando and Rostom Ali 7-6 (1), 3-6, 10-3.
