WHO announces AstraZeneca vaccine for emergency use

The World Health Organization (WHO) yesterday announced that Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been given for Emergency Use Listing (EUL).

Accordingly, the two versions of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccines have been given the WHO Emergency Use Listing.

The two versions of the AstraZeneca/Oxford vaccine are produced by AstraZeneca-SK Bioscience (AZ-SKBio) and the Serum Institute of India (AZ-SII).

They will be also available for global rollout through the COVAX Facility.

The COVAX Facility is an initiative for equitable global access to COVID-19 vaccines and the co-leads are the Coalition for Epidemic Preparedness Innovations (CEPI), Gavi- the Vaccine Alliance and the World Health Organization (WHO) with their key delivery partner UNICEF.
