Venerable Uwatenne Sumana Thera was granted Presidential pardon who was sentenced for life imprisonment.
Thera who was then Chief incumbent of Sri Bodhirajaramaya Viharaya in Maligawatte was found guilty for an illegal firearm possession.
It was few days prior to 2010 Presidential Election, two T-56 assault rifles and 210 live ammunition rounds were taken into custody in the premises of Maligawatta Bodhirajarama Viharaya.
