Yoshihide Suga, the Prime Minister of Japan said that delayed Tokyo Olympics will be held in July this year.
“The Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games will be held this summer. We will make steady preparations to realise a safe and secure tournament,” Saga said in the written statement for New Year.
However, the public opinion on holding a costly event is contrary to the one of Prime Minister Suga as the surge of coronavirus cases in Japan.
The International Olympic Committee along with Japan decided to postpone Olympic Games to 2021, last March since most of the countries in the world went for a lockdown due to the pandemic.
