In a statement, Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said that there will be no registration of social media users or digital platform users.
He further stated that the statement regarding the social media regulation has been portrayed in a “garbled manner” while acknowledging that it is to prevent huge sums of money leaving the country due to predatory techniques of digital multinational conglomerates.
The social media regulation is for the foreign digital operators and not for the local digital platform users, Minister said.
