Severe lightning advisory issued

The Natural Hazards Early Warning Center has issued an AMBER weather alert on severe lightning.

Thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places over the island, stated the advisory.

Department of Meteorology advises that people should preferably stay indoors while avoid using wired telephones and connected electric appliances.  

Also, for emergency assistance contact the local disaster management authorities.
