GCE O/L examination likely to be postponed further

The Education Ministry will review its earlier decision to hold the GCE Ordinary Level examination in January if schools cannot be reopened as planned within the coming days, Education Minister Prof.G.L. Peiris said in Parliament yesterday.

The Ministry re-scheduled the GCE O/L exam from December to January owing to Covid-19 lockdowns and health regulations. The exam is to be held from January 18 to 27 but due to difficulties in lockdown areas, many schools still remain closed and the stakeholders say the Ordinary Level syllabus has not been completed.
