Former Sri Lanka Carom Federation president Parakrama Basnayake and former vice president Susantha Fernando will battle it out for the top post at the AGM which will be held on November 6 at the Sports Ministry Auditorium.
Basnayake, Fernando and JAR Rodrigo submitted their nominations for the post of president but Rodrigo’s name was rejected. There were also a few objections made by the affiliated clubs to postpone the election.
However the Sports Ministry and the Election Committee headed by retired Assistant Custom Director General Dharmasena Kahadawa inquired into the objections and decided the election will take place.
The posts of Secretary, Treasurer, Tournament Secretary and Assistant Treasurer will be uncontested.
Daya Vidanagama is to be elected Secretary while Sunanada Kodagoda will be elected to the Treasurer post.
Amitha Wickramasinghe and Kamala Abeyweera will be elected as Tournament Secretary and Assistant Treasurer respectively. Seven candidates will contest five vice president posts while 13 are seeking office in a ten-member Committee. (DR)
