Golf is the only sport that has been active even during the Coronavirus pandemic in Sri Lanka and now the players are looking forward to participate in the prestigious Amateur Club Golf Championship 2020 of the Royal Colombo Golf Club (RCGC).
The championship will be held on August 22, 23, 27, 28, 29 and 30 at the Ridgeways course in Colombo.
All male members with a handicap of 12 or less are eligible to participate and as always they will be vying for the prestigious trophies that are on offer.
Two rounds of stroke-play event will be held on August 22 and 23 and those with the best 16 gross scores will qualify for the pre-quarter finals. This stage will be played off scratch over 18 holes on August 27.
The quarter-finals will be played on August 28 and the semi-finals will be played the next day. The final will be played over 36 holes on August 30 and the winner will be adjudged the RCGC Champion for 2020.
The RCGC Silver Championship is open to all members with a handicap of 13 to 18. There will be two rounds of stroke-play on the August 22 and 23 and the winner of this Division will be the player with the lowest aggregate nett score.
The RCGC Bronze Championship is open to all members with a handicap of 19 to 28 at the time of entry.
There will be two rounds of stroke play on August 22 and 23 and the winner will be the player with the lowest aggregate nett score.
The Masters division championship is for members who have reached the age of 55 or more on March 31, 2020 and with a valid handicap. The player who returns the lowest aggregate nett score will be the champion.
The Seniors championship is for members who have reached the age of 65 years on March 31 2020. The winner will be the player with the lowest aggregate nett score.
