Overcharges in last month’s utility bills will be adjusted in the next months bills, the Electricity and Water Board officials told the Sunday Observer regarding consumer complaints on over estimated bills during the lockdown period of nearly three months.
Additional General Manager (Corporate Services) of National Water Supply and Drainage Board (NWSDB), Wasantha Illangasinghe told the Sunday Observer yesterday that a large number of consumer complaints are received by the NWSDB daily.
During the Covid-19 outbreak, NWSDB, Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LECO) could not proceed with their usual billing procedure. Illangasinghe said issuing bills in the Western Province was further delayed, till the second week of last month due to continuous quarantine curfew.
“Even with no complaints from the consumer, we will make the due adjustments in the next month’s bill,” she said.
