The Sri Lanka Squash Federation is to get back into contention and conduct practices and focus mainly on the junior and senior National championships.
Vice President of the Squash Federation Eranda Geeganage said they have already started successful discussions with their main sponsors Ceylon Biscuits to conduct the Junior National squash championship.
“We have to decide on the dates and venue for this junior tournament and how to conduct it according to the health regulations as all junior players are from schools,” he said. Their plan is to conduct the Junior Nationals in September or October and the Senior National championship in December. Geeganage they were also looking into the possibility of conducting a National level event before the Junior and Senior meets in August as a forerunner.
Meanwhile three international tournaments that were postponed due to the coronavirus epidemic are in the process of finalizing new dates.
“Once we get to know the new dates we could select the players and commence practices to focus on what is ahead. We should be able to start practices within the next two weeks,” said Geeganage.
