The much anticipated schools rugby League could come alive and restart from October 15 to end on November 30 with the Knock-Outs scheduled to kick-off in mid December.
The League tournament was abruptly halted due to the Covid 19 pandemic in March this year and the new dates mean the matches will start after the conclusion of the GCE A Level examination to be held in September. The Sri Lanka Schools Rugby Football Association (SLSRFA) are also hopeful that the Ministry of Education will given them the green light to go ahead.
Officials of the SLSRFA believe that school teams will be able to resume trainings from August to prepare for the tournament which will give them ample time to lift their fitness levels. The tournament is expected to be very competitive this year with teams like St. Peter’s College, Royal College, Isipathana College and Trinity College doing well in their opening games. (TBR)
