President Gotabaya Rajapaksa pays his last respects to the former Governor of Uva and Sabaragamuwa, Marshal Perera in Colombo.
Foreign Relations Minister Dinesh Gunawardana and Thai Ambassador Chulamanee Chartsuwan participated in religious observances at the Kotahena  Deepaduththarama Thai  Rajamahavihara conducted by chief incumbent Shasthrapathi Ven. Waskaduwe Mahindawansha. Deepaduththaramaya, built initially in 1785 was the first Buddhist temple in Colombo and was home to Ven. Migettuwatte Sri Gunananda Thera, the great orator and leader of Panadura Vadaya. The Deepaduththaramaya is also cherished by Thai Buddhists and Thai royalty for its great importance in Thai history. Prisdang Chumsai, the grandson of King Rama 3 of Thailand, attained priesthood here under the Most Ven. Waskaduwe Subhoothi Thera in 1896 as Ven. Jinarawansa Thera. Since then, generations of Thai royalty have visited the Deepaduththaramaya and bestowed the temple with their assistance. Ven. Galagama Dammaransi and Foreign Secretary, Ravinatha Ariyasinghe also participated.
Indian citizens who were stranded due to Covid-19 for almost three months, leave the island on an Indian ship that arrived to take them.
