Referring to last week’s story titled ‘Cabinet nod to implement worker welfare plan’, an official of the Ministry of Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations has sent a letter to this newspaper stating that Cabinet approval was to implement a four-point plan.

This refers to the news Item ‘Cabinet nod to implement worker welfare plan’ that appeared in the Sunday Observer Business of May 17, 2020.
The news item states that the Cabinet of Ministers has given the nod to implement a 10-point plan proposed by the Employers Federation of Ceylon.
As per the directions given by Minister of Skills Development, Employment and Labour Relations, Dinesh Gunawardena, I wish to inform you that the actual position is as follows:
The Cabinet of Ministers has given its concurrence to implement a four-point plan, proposed by the National Labour Advisory Council which was recommended and submitted to the Cabinet by Minister Gunawardena.
The Employers Federation of Ceylon, trade unions representatives and officials of the Ministry of Labour are represented in the National Labour Advisory Council.
