PCR tests exceed 33,000

The number of PCR tests conducted to detect Covid-19 infected persons exceeded 33,000 by Friday (8) and 33,899 PCR tests have been conducted since February 18. The disease is under control now. All who return to Sri Lanka from abroad should undergo a 14-day compulsory quarantine period. All state and private institutions should strictly follow health guidelines issued by the Health Ministry, Health Services Director General Dr. Anil Jasinghe said.

According to Dr. Jasinghe, 1,821 PCR tests were conducted on  Friday, 1,553 PCR tests on Thursday and 1,147 PCR tests  on Wednesday, while 1,491 tests were conducted on Tuesday. All suspected people have been tested so far. The health authorities reveal the truth to the public without hiding any information because it is essential to control the disease successfully, he said.
