A financial grant by members of the Sri Lanka cricket team was made to the Homagama Base Hospital for the procurement of what is called Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The donation was handed over by skipper Dimuth Karunaratne to the medical superintendent of the hospital Dr. Janitha Hettiarachchi.
According to Sri Lanka Cricket the money will be used to buy protective equipment for medical staff directly handling coronavirus patients.
“It is our duty as sports personalities to come forward at this moment of time to help the country, which needs contribution from every corner to fight out this deadly virus,” said Karunaratne. The team also made a financial grant to the Colombo General Hospital to buy a video Laryngoscope, which is a primary medical equipment used to treat Covid - 19 patients.
