
Eight teams qualified for the Super Eight round of the SLC Major Tier ‘A’ three-day inter club cricket tournament.
Fourteen teams participated in this tournament in two groups with CCC and Chilaw Marians topping the respective groups after the seventh and last week of matches.
The teams that qualified are CCC, Colts, Army CC, BRC, Chilaw Marians, NCC, Saracens and Ragama CC.
Unbeaten CCC earned 97.500 points with four wins from six matches in the first round. Colts (69.750), Army CC (61.140) and BRC (55.250) from group ‘A’ followed.
Chilaw Marians earned 65.710 points with three wins from six matches. They lost two matches while NCC (61.180), Saracnes (60.500) and Ragama CC (56.460) from group ‘B’ followed.
Negombo CC (49.250), SSC (47.590) and Moors SC (35.440) will play in the Plate segment from group ‘A’ while Tamil Union (45.650), Baduraliya CC (34.550) and Lankan CC (27.980) will feature from group ‘B’.
Lahiru Milantha of Baduraliya CC is the leading batsman with 638 runs in six innings with a double century, two centuries and a half century for an average of 127.60.
Duvindu Tillekaratne of BRC is the leading bowler in the tournament with 38 wickets for 726 runs in nine innings for an average of 19.10.
