St. John’s College Panadura cricketer Reshan Malik Fernando reached a milestone of crossing the 1000-run mark in the current under-19 Singer trophy inter-school season.
In all Fernando clouted three centuries, four half centuries with a top score of 129 while contesting the Division Two championships.
He had his best outing against the fancied Kalutara Vidyalaya when he scored 76 in the first innings and followed it up with an unbeaten 123 in the second innings.
His other big knocks were made against Tholangamuwa Central College when he smashed 103 and against Galahitiyawa Central with his top performance of 129 that took him past a thousand runs.
Fernando according to his coaches has the potential to go places as a technically correct batsman if only he could have the facilities that privileged players in Colombo get to benefit from.
