Ten teams to contest C Division MCA tourney

The Mercantile Cricket Association’s ‘C’ Division 50-over championship got off last weekend with four matches played.

The tourney is sponsored by the National Development Bank for the second successive year. The trophy offered for the winner is named the NDB Trophy and the sponsorship for the Tournament was handed over to the President of the MCA Rohana Dissanayake at a Press briefing held at the MCA last Tuesday.

This year ten teams have confirmed their participation which will play in group ‘A’ and Group ‘B’ with each group consisting of five teams.

in the first stage they will play 20 matches on a League basis that comes to an end on February 15 and the top four teams from each group qualify to the quarters.

The quarters finals are scheduled for February 22 and 23 with the semi finals set for February 29 and the final and the Award ceremony is to take place on March 7 at the MCA ground.

Asia Asset Finance defeated Pyamid Wilmar to carry away the main Award last year.

The teams for this year are as follows: Group ‘A’ Morrison PLC, Commercial Credit & Finance, DFCC Bank, Nations Trust Bank and Heshan Flexie Packaging

Group ‘B’: People’s Leasing Company, Commercial Bank, PABC Bank, Sri Lanka Telecom and Hatton National Bank.
