
A top class rugby player, Tehan Karunanayake, has been named captain of the Trinity College rugby team for the 2020 season.
Karunanayake plays as scrum half and his deputy will be Number Eight Thidas Thanthirige while the team will be coached by former All Blacks player Rodney So’oialo assistaed by Saliya Kumara, the three-quarter coach and forwards coach is Asitha Ratnayake. The squad is blessed with 45 players who are hard at training at the Pallekelle ground.
Rugby at Trinity is well backed by the principal Andrew Fowler-Watt and the Old boys Scrummage headed by Channa Pathirane and has a history dating back to 1906.
The former Sri Lanka player and IRB match commissioner Kavinda Jayasena will continue as the overall rugby manager of Trinity College.
Trinity have been performing below expectations in the recent past and will need to come up with something their supporters can cheer to justify the investment.
