SLARDAR President Kamil Hussain said that the Hutch Super Series which began seven years ago, has come a long way to promote motor racing in Sri Lanka. He thanked Hutchison for coming forward to be the main partner of the Super Series and said their partnership became highly beneficial for all drivers and riders and their careers.

In the car events the top driver Ashan Silva has a slender lead of two points over his closest challenger Ushan Perera. They are bound to provide the thrills in the car events.

Meanwhile, Jacques Gunawardene leads the points table for motorcycles and is ahead of Evon Gurusinghe by 13 points. Gayan Sandaruwan the former champion rider who was behind the setting up of the track at Welisara, said that 110 riders and over 70 drivers have confirmed their participation for a total of 23 events scheduled to be worked off.

The track was in a poor shape due to the recent rains and the organizers have been working hard to uplift the track to a suitable condition with all measures taken to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators alike.
