New challengers at Kuda Oya Super Cross

All proceeds collected from the 4th Edition of the Uva-Kuda-oya Super Cross will be used for the welfare of families of soldiers who lost their lives during the ethnic war as well as for the welfare of those injured in battle.

The Super Cross will be held on August 4 at the Track at Uva-Kuda-Oya Training Complex which has been widened to allow drivers to touch their highest speeds and thrill the crowds organized by the Army Commando Regiment along with Sri Lanka Association of Racing Drivers and Riders (SLARDAR).

These details were disclosed at a press briefing held at the Commando Regiment Headquarters in Ganemulla. The Chief of Staff and Center Commandant Commando Regiment Shavendra Silva attended the media function as the chief guest.

The meet is also the first of the Hutch Super Series Championship for the year 2019 as the earlier scheduled meets had to be postponed due to the Easter bombings. The track which is developed to match international standards is sure to encourage the drivers and riders to come up with their skills and touch maximum speeds.

A total of 24 events will be worked off with two events for the Group SL- GT Cars up to 3500 cc and two events in the Group MX - Racing Motorcycles 100 to 125 cc. In addition to these two events there are also three other Championship events to be worked off.

The Hutchison Telecommunication is the main sponsor.

More than 120 drivers and over 130 riders in 12 different class CC categories are expected to enter. The events are: Cars: Group SL -E Cars up to 1000 cc-Nissan March, Group SL-E Ford Laser/Mazda 1300 cc, Group SL- N Ford Laser Mazda 1300 cc, Group SL - H Subaru Legacy up to 2000 cc, Group SL – N Ford Laser/Mazda 1500 cc, Group SL –A Modified Cars up to 1050 cc, Group SL- GT Cars up to 3500 cc (2 races), Group SL –A Modified Cars up to 1050 cc, Group T and J up to 5500 Turbo, Group SL – H cars up to 1618cc Honda, Group T & J Open

Motor Cycles: Group – M STD/Mod Street Trail Motorcycles 100 up to 125 cc 2/T, Group J – MX Motor cycles 65- 85 cc 2/T & 100- 150 cc 4/T under 12, Group J – MX Motorcycles up to 50 cc under 10, Group M – STD/Mod Motorcycles over 175 - 250 cc & 100 cc to 125 2/T (2 races), Group J - MX over 65 to 85 cc & over 100 to 150cc – under 16 (2 races), Group MX - Racing Motorcycles 100 to 125 cc 2/T, Group SM – Super Motard Open over 250 up to 750 cc, Group M – STD/MOD Motorcycles 175 to 250 cc 4/T &100 – 25 cc 2/T (2 races), Group SM – Super Motard Open 125 to 500 2/T & 250 to 750 cc.
