Maximum precautions have been taken to ensure the safety of local and foreign air passengers and staff at the Bandaranaike International Airport Katunayake, Colombo according to a release issued by the Airport and Aviation Services Ltd.
According to the release, airport operations and flights are conducted regularly as per the scheduled time table.“Our responsibility is to ensure a better service for air passengers, security for the airport staff and others using the airport,” the release said adding that security forces have provided additional security to the airport and areas around it.
According to the release, the entry to the airport terminal building has been restricted to air passengers only, until further notice.
Air passengers are requested not to have visitors accompany them to the airport, to avoid unnecessary delay.
“It would be of great assistance to us if air passengers arrive at the airport at least four hours in advance of scheduled flights,” it said.
The Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) Ltd. expressed its regret for the inconvenience caused and called upon all to extend cooperation to security personnel manning the airport. Inquiries regarding flights could be made from 011 2251621.
