Two skippers score tons as Gunatilleke hammers sixth century

Vinura Dulsara skipper of Mahinda College and Sithara Hapuhinna the captain of S. Thomas’ College scored centuries for their respective schools in their inter school cricket fixtures last weekend while the run machine of St. Peter’s College Santhush Gunatilleke smashed his sixth hundred of the season.

Dulsara hit 102 runs against Dharmaraja while his teammate Hansika Welihinda slammed 155 with 16 boundaries and Navod Paranawithana 77 in their drawn game against Dharmaraja College at Lake View.

Kasun Gunawardena (82) and Isuru Dayananda (60) batted best for the Rajans.

Hapuhinna scored an unbeaten 129 off 95 balls with 12 boundaries and five sixes in their drawn game against Wesley College at Mt. Lavinia.

Thomian bowler Dellon Peiris obtained a match bag of ten wickets with best figures of 7 for 26 in the Wesley first innings.

Shenal Dangalle (51) and Kavindana Perera (50) batted well while Thenuka Perera (5/31) excelled for Wesley.

Nimnaka Jayathilake claimed a match bag of 10 wickets to help St. Anthony’s Katugastota crush St. Peter’s Negombo by an innings and 196 runs at Katugastota.

Theeksha Gunasinghe (111) and Chamindu Wickremasinghe (102) scored centuries while Mohamed Kameen (80 n.o.) and Asitha Wanninayake (74) also batted well for Antonians.

Johanne de Zylva (79), Shevon Daniel (73) and Sachintha Ravindu (58) batted well for St. Joseph’s College in their drawn game against Trinity College at Darley Road where Salinda Seneviratne (5 for 78) was the pick of the bowlers for the home team.

Trinity batsman Pubudu Bandara top scored with 78 runs in their first innings.

Kamil Mishara scored a massive 250 as Royal amassed 373 for two declared in their first innings against Ananda College while Ahan Wickremasinghe scored 69 not out.

Ananda were bundled out for 140 runs in their first innings with Lahiru Madusanka capturing 5 for 37 but could not repeat it in the second innings.

Kamesh Nirmal scored 101 while Kalana Wijesiri (76) and Moditha Ranatunga (53) also made useful contributions for Ananda College in their drawn against St. Benedict’s College at Ananda Mawatha.

Kaveesha Jayatilleke scored 52 runs for the Bens.

Thisuraka Akmeemana scored 104 for Wesley in their drawn game against Thurstan College. Senal Dangalle made 59 and Thenuka Perera claimed 5 for 27 for Wesley.

Yohan Liyanage made 66 in Thurstan’s first innings while Jayavihan Mahawithara scored 72 in their second inning.

Avishka Tharindu scored an unbeaten 101 for St. Anthony’s Wattala in their drawn game against St. Thomas’ College Matara.Vishal Silva (65) and Arindha Pasindu (54) also batted well.

Harindu Jayasekera (76) and Gishanthika Jayaweera (50) scored for St. Thomas’ in their first innings.

Muditha Lakshan the deputy skipper of DS Senanayake scored 113, his fifth this season and went past the 1000 runs milestone, in their first innings against St. Peter’s College at Bambalapitiya.

St. Peter’s hit back through centuries from Santhush Gunatilleke (122) and Ranmith Jayasena (120 n.o) to see a draw at Bambalapitiya. This was Gunatilleke’s sixth century and with two fifties, he too has gone past the 1000 runs milestone. Dinith Anjula also scored 65 runs.

Ruvin Seneviratne claimed 6 for 72 for the Petes.

Dunith Jayatunge scored 90 for St.Sebastian’s College in their drawn game against Trinity at Asgiriya.

Pubudu Bandara scored 53 for Trinity along with Ranuda Somaratne (83) and Avishka Senadeera (60) in Trinity’s first innings. Avishka Senadeera also claimed 6 for 67 for Trinity.
