Moves to oust rugby officials?

Moves are afoot to oust some senior decision makingofficials of Sri Lanka Rugby through political means, the Sunday Observer learns.

But vice president and tournament director of Sri Lanka Rugby, Rizly Illyas, dismissed reports that political pressure has been brought on them to resign.

“We are all elected democratically and cannot be put out through undemocratic means. We are answerable to the clubs who are our stakeholders and World Rugby who have recognized us a elected officials. I far as I know there is no move to remove us. Our job is to promote the interests of the country’s rugby and not to cave into politics”, said Ilyas.
