Loans amounting to Rs.125.4 million have been disbursed among 290 young entrepreneurs island-wide to date by the Thurunu Diriya loan scheme which aims to empower young entrepreneurs.
The provincial-wise loan disbursements are led by Western, Sabaragamuwa and Southern Provinces by disbursing 54, 52 and 44 loans
while the district-wise loan disbursements are led by Rathnapura, Kalutara and Ampara districts by disbursing 42, 23 and 22 loans. The loan scheme is implemented with the coordination of District and Divisional Secretariats island-wide to empower young entrepreneurs engaged in businesses related fields such as beauty culture, automobile repairing, garments, Information Technology (IT) and agriculture.
Loans are provided without a guarantor, collateral and under lenient guarantor conditions for entrepreneurs below 40 years who have a degree or a recognised vocational certificate and who has been in the business for a minimum three years.
