Grease Yaka Returns to the Lionel Wendt Theatre!

5 August, 2018

A brand new social satire in English and Sinhala, Grease Yaka Returns is a black comedy that looks at what happens to society when we allow our fears to get the better of us. The play, 75 minutes in duration, will be staged at the Lionel Wendt Theatre from August 17 to 19, from 7.30 pm.

The play is a sequel to the acclaimed bilingual devised theatre production Grease Yaka, which was directed by Ruwanthie de Chickera and presented by Ananda Drama in association with Stages Theatre Group in 2014. However, no familiarity with the original play is required to enjoy Grease Yaka Returns, which features all new characters and a brand-new story.

Grease Yaka Returns is directed by Nishantha de Silva and Rajitha Hettiarachchi, who also wrote the script. The play stars a diverse cast, outstanding young thespians who have worked with most of Colombo’s leading theatre companies.

Grease Yaka Returnsis presented by Ananda Drama, the theatre company behind such original plays as Picket Republic (2017), Affair at Ward Place Hotel (2016) directed by Jith Pieris, the comic adaptation of Dracula! (2015) directed by Thushara Hettihamu, Grease Yaka(2014), and Alice in Wonderland (2013).
