Joes and Isipathana eye rugby Sevens title

St. Joseph’s College and Isipathana College look set to go places when the quarter finals of the inter-school rugby Sevens tournament are worked off today at the Royal Complex ground in Colombo.

Both schools produced some sparkling displays to run the ball at will and while the Joes will meet Science College in one quarter final, Isipathana will take on Prince of Wales College in another quarter final match.

S. Thomas’ College and St. Anthony’s College will also meet in the quarter finals as will Vidyartha and Royal in another contest.

St. Peter’s College, Trinity College and Dharmaraja College are not contesting the tournament which began at the Royal Complex ground yesterday.

The Joes signed off the day’s proceedings by beating Kingswood College 29-7 in one of the qualifying round matches while Isipathana did the same by downing DS Senanayake College 36-0.

Royal College also had an impressive performance in one of the qualifying round matches when they beat Thurstan 41-0.
