Sri Lanka’s basketball team lost to Uzbekistan 8-21 in their qualifying match of the 2018 FIBA 3×3 Asia Cup in Shenzen, China yesterday.
In the matches played on Saturday, Sri Lanka managed to edge out Thailand by a mere three points to record their first win as the final scores read 21-19 and narrowly lost to South Korea 18-22. Sri Lanka had an impressive run in the same tournament last year beating Japan for the first time in history in any format of the game but have slumped in the 2018 rankings. As a result, Sri Lanka was drafted to play the qualifying draw.
The men’s team has been drawn in Pool A in the qualifying draw while the women’s team is in Pool B.
The women’s team beat Samoa 14-10 and lost to the defending champions Australia 2-21.
