Peterites declare players’ Code

18 March, 2018

In an age when on-field disputes and administrative bungling creep in to spoil sports, one school, St. Peter’s College, has reiterated its chosen Code for players during the 2018 inter-school rugby season which began last week.

The Code has been laid down in their players squad and fixture card which reads: Play and enjoy the game, Play by the rules, Do not argue with the referee, Control your temper, Never give up, Be fair, Improve your skills, Don’t be selfish and Learn to take up defeat in the same spirit as a victory.

St. Peter’s College is one of the oldest rugby playing institutions in the country dating back to 1932 with a history of 86 years in the game.

They started off the current League with a bang in their opening game when they beat Zahira College 48-12 and will take on Wesley College today (March 18) at Havelock Park.

The Peterites will also host Dharmaraja College at Police Park on March 23 followed by a match against Isipathana College on April 7 at Havelock Park.

Their last first round game will be against DS Senanayake College at Havelock Park on April 21.
