Second Prize : The Witches

11 March, 2018

The Witches by Roald Dahl begins with an introduction to witches. The main character, a boy who is not named and his grandmother talk about witches – they have claws, they are bald, they don’t have toes and their saliva is blue. When the boy and his grandmother go on a holiday, the boy is turned into a mouse by and evil witch named the Grand High Witch. The boy whips up a plan to get rid of the witches and the story ends with the witches all turning into mice. I like this book because it is exciting and it makes us nervous. It didn’t end in the way I imagined and in my opinion it’s an easy read.
