Kandy SC retains league title with 41/17 win over Navy

Kandy SC crowned themselves as league champions for another year when they snuffed out the challenge posed by second placed Sri Lanka Navy SC by a convincing 41 points (6 tries, 4 conversions, 1 penalty) to 17 (2 penalty tries, 2 conversions, 1 penalty) in a Dialog ‘A’ division second round match played at Welisara yesterday.

From the outset Kandy proved dominant running away to a 34-3 lead at the end of the first half before sealing the win although they managed only a try in the second half that was converted.

POLICE WARD OFF AIRMEN’S CHALLENGE

In another Dialog ‘A’ division league second round match Police SC held onto a fierce second half fight back from Air Force SC to win by 18 points (2 tries, 1 conversion, 2 penalties) to 12 (2 tries, 1 conversion) at Police Park yesterday.

Police raced away to a 15-5 lead at the end of the first half before the Airmen mounted an assault after the turnaround to come within seven points of pulling off a win.
